Warming Huts
Winnipeg, MB

Type: Public Competition

Warming Huts is a yearly competition to design and construct small warming huts on the Assiniboine River in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We took this opportunity to explore the potential for a pyramid, with a truncated and inverted tip, to hold snow as part of its fabrication.

With wood-framed walls clad in polycarbonate that stops short of its top plate, snow is allowed to penetrate the cavities, and to provide a level of opacity and warmth to the delicate assembly.
