135: Site Work and Follies
An existing interesting house occupies the Northern portion of this property on the Bay of Quinte. The original house is a sustainable building that employs heavy, hay bale walls coupled with a delicate cedar trellis along its North face. Our charge is to alter the means by which the Owner occupies the space between the house and the bay itself. This Work posits a dining pavilion that draws from the cedar assembly of the house’s facade, a lawn court for family gathering, and path to the Water Deck and dock on the Bay. The Water Deck is a simple cedar deck, but one that’s visually fractured to mimic the stonework of the shoreline at its edge.
