169: Portable Molecular Housing
Kehilla Residential Programme, the UJA Federation’s community housing agency in Toronto, issued an Expression of Interest request for the design and presentation of Portable Modular Housing units for an underserved population in Toronto. Kehilla’s intention was to further the dialogue for thoughtful community housing to help in alleviating what has become a crisis in the City of Toronto.
On being long-listed amongst five other architects, our submission garnered us a short-list position, and a subsequent presentation at Kehilla’s Moving Modular Forward event, held at the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto.
We were honoured to be awarded Second Place for our Portable Molecular Housing proposal, with recognition by the distinguished jury for how the project uniquely addresses the welcoming of light into the core of the building.
